It has happened. My husband has graduated. We are super excited! After being only a couple of classes away from graduating in Florida back in like 2005, Scott made a decision to move to Arizona. Some may have thought it was crazy, but if he had not made that decision, I would have never met him. So, of course, I am extremely happy that he made that decision not to finish his degree and move to Arizona.
After we got married, moved to San Antonio and began our fabulous little life here in Selma, TX, that yearning inside Scott to go back to school finally made it to the surface. He researched schools looking for a place that would accept most of his credits and allow him to graduate sooner than like three years. We even contemplated moving back to Florida for a summer so that he could finish where he started. But although that was the shortest solution, it wasn't the simplest. Making the journey to Florida, finding a place to rent for a few months, figuring out what to do with all of our stuff; there were so many decisions to make that made the shortest solution for graduation just too complicated. Eventually, he found a school that would accept most of his credits, and it even had a program that would allow him to finish by taking classes in the evening that were directed more towards business, which was his current interest anyway. Interestingly enough, we made fun of the school's name, University of the Incarnate Word, when we first moved here. And now here he is graduating from it! :o)
Even though it did take longer than if we had gone to Florida, everything worked out really well for his degree and for our family. And now here we are; the first couple in both of our families to both have our degrees. Pretty neat.
So graduation day came. It began a little rough around the edges with Scott losing the tassel for his hat. He was sure they wouldn't let him walk without it, but I convinced him that we should still go just to check. Sure enough, they said he could walk. Luckily, as he was lining up to begin the procession into the auditorium, the girl behind him found his tassel in his hood. (Who knows why she was digging her hands in my husband's hood!) Just kidding honey. :o)
I admit, during the ceremony I got a little teary-eyed. It was very exciting to watch Scott walk in, and double that excitement when his name was called. It was a great day! And although I ended up taking the kids outside after Scott went back to sit down, lucky me, I happened to be camped out at the perfect spot to see him walk out the side door with his fellow graduates. Congratulations, honey! I love you!

The auditorium...
The kids waiting for Daddy to graduate!
There he is!
Don't be fooled...
...his brothers really are proud of him. :o)
What a great day!
